While IFT14 represents a great opportunity for us to showcase how Kett test and measurement equipment can enhance food quality, extend shelf life and improve profits at the largest annual food science forum and expo in the world – for me a highlight of the show is always the delicious food. 

I’m looking forward to meeting with QA, QC, product development and R&D specialists from some of the world’s most profitable organizations at IFT2014 later this month. As they get ready to learn about the latest in product, ingredient and technology improvements, and how these latest developments will impact their business, I’m getting prepared to wow them with how our innovations in measurement instrumentation will help them realize their quality, product introductions, and profit goals.

We live in an era where anything, and everything, we need to know is at our fingertips. All we need is access to the internet – the information highway. This is both good and bad for companies.  The advantage is that it is now easier for organizations to have a direct connection with the people using their product or service. They can publish information they know their customers are looking for, making it easier for their customers and advocates to stay up-to-date with new products, industry trends, and company news.  Customers can now feel more connected to, and possibly more loyal, towards companies and brands. The challenge with all this information is how to stand out, how to be relevant, and how to engage your customers with the right information. 

When deciding on the best moisture measurement technology for your business, it’s important not to make a decision purely based on the purchase price of the instrument. Weighing up the benefits and how these can impact both efficiencies and profits is key to a long-term successful acquisition.

With the weather now warming up as we get closer to Summer – it’s important to regularly check your grain quality. Any small change in moisture can be costly.

I’ve just returned from an incredible experience meeting hundreds of scientists and industrial professionals at Analytica, the International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis and Biotechnology in Munich, Germany. It’s never simple to compete against 1,100 exhibitors. However, it’s a little easier when you are in the country of the Hoffbrauhaus… I always underestimate how much scientists love their beer!
