Our notes from Pittcon 2019

Posted by Kett Marketing on Wed, May 22, 2019
Kett exhibited at the 2019 Pittcon last month.   We had such a great time and met so many existing and new contacts we didn’t have a chance to write about it until now.   The Pittsburgh Conference (Pittcon) is held annually and is one of the pre-eminent technical conferences in North America.   It’s a unique gathering where scientists, industrial users, developers and dreamers convene to see the latest in measurement technology and learn about unique and novel ways users have implemented the technology.  The net – lot’s of brain power.   2019 was Kett’s 26 th year as an exhibitor.

This year, the show was held in the Philadelphia Convention Center.  The weather was cool but the attendance was hot.   As you can see from the photo of our booth… the lights were bright on Kett and our visitors.  We had two highlighted products this year.  Our KB230 advanced desktop moisture analyzer and our BSR1700 online scanning spectrometer.  Both had great interest.

It’s All About Quality: Single Grain & Seed Moisture Meters

Posted by Kett Marketing on Tue, Apr 2, 2019

Few industries rely on moisture meters quite so much as the grain and seed industries. From their start as seeds to planting to harvest to distributing to consumers, knowing and maintaining moisture is vital at each step of the journey in the life of seed and grain.

Determining the viability of seeds, whether buying or selling, or preparing to plan, you can ensure that your seeds are high in quality and worthy of an investment that will ensure a strong crop yield. The best way to know how viable seeds are? With a single grain moisture meter.

Of course, some choose to send grain and seed samples to seed testing laboratories, but this process is timely and expensive, and puts a major delay in the buying, selling, and planting process. A seed moisture meter is one of the easiest ways to save funds that would have otherwise been used to send seed and grain samples to a lab for testing.

Examining Moisture Meter Methods: Karl Fischer and Near Infrared Technology

Posted by John Bogart on Thu, Mar 28, 2019

In the world of obtaining accurate readings of moisture levels, there are several scientific, reliable ways to gather data. Some, like the Karl Fischer method, have weathered the test of time, with decades of use. Others, like the newer, flashier near infrared moisture meters, have found their place in the industry more recently, because they are so practical, easy, and time-efficient.

So what is the Karl Fischer method, and why should you consider switching to the newer, near infrared technology? Let’s take a look:

READY How the Pearlest Grain Polisher Can Give You the Most Accurate Readings

Posted by John Bogart on Tue, Mar 5, 2019

Any season, growing a crop is a major investment, and knowing how to care for that investment, and when to harvest it is key to its overall success. Particularly for rice, wheat, or barley, when a grain is harvested, the hard outer husks must be removed in order for the grain to be usable. It is also important to remove this outer shell on a sample-size level in order to check the overall quality of the grain when harvesting the crop, and again after harvest, during its transporting and storage processes.

Moisture Meters and Simplifying the Food Processing Industry

Posted by Kett Marketing on Tue, Jan 22, 2019

From farm to supermarket to your table and every step in between, there is a constant battle to store food and maintain the perfect level of moisture to maintain the it’s longevity. Too much moisture, and your food is susceptible to mold growth, spoilage, and staleness. Too little moisture, and a product may dry out and lose its desired flavor or texture.
