Water damage can cause more than just major structural damage to your home. Beyond the rotting of woodwork and framing, issues with joints, swelling of door frames, and crumbling masonry, moisture can also open up your home to all sorts of unwanted pests.

Kett exhibited at the 2019 Pittcon last month.   We had such a great time and met so many existing and new contacts we didn’t have a chance to write about it until now.   The Pittsburgh Conference (Pittcon) is held annually and is one of the pre-eminent technical conferences in North America.   It’s a unique gathering where scientists, industrial users, developers and dreamers convene to see the latest in measurement technology and learn about unique and novel ways users have implemented the technology.  The net – lot’s of brain power.   2019 was Kett’s 26 ^th year as an exhibitor.

This year, the show was held in the Philadelphia Convention Center.  The weather was cool but the attendance was hot.   As you can see from the photo of our booth… the lights were bright on Kett and our visitors.  We had two highlighted products this year.  Our KB230 advanced desktop moisture analyzer and our BSR1700 online scanning spectrometer.  Both had great interest.

The food processing industry is an ever-changing market. As consumers’ views on food change, those who create that food must change along with them. In an increasingly nutritionally-minded world, the need for composition analyzers is growing as well, in order to provide exact, nutritional information about the food that is being produced.

Few industries require as much care for precision and security as the pharmaceutical industry. Every part of production, and each singular end result must be made with the utmost accuracy and attention to each minute detail. How can you trust that each product— every tablet or capsule— is safe to use and will work as intended? By using a composition analyzer.

From farm to supermarket to your table and every step in between, there is a constant battle to store food and maintain the perfect level of moisture to maintain the it’s longevity. Too much moisture, and your food is susceptible to mold growth, spoilage, and staleness. Too little moisture, and a product may dry out and lose its desired flavor or texture.

When the unthinkable happens and you have a fire, there are countless things to do to get your life back to normal. Dealing with insurance, the clean-up, and the restoration that follows a fire aren’t even the full extent of the problems, though. If you’re not careful, the water used to extinguish the fire can do nearly as much damage as the fire.

There’s no doubt about it: investing in a moisture meter can be a big endeavor. Even though it is a worthwhile investment, that is frequently key to a project’s success, it’s still an investment. So how can you protect this investment? And are there other uses or applications for your moisture meter that can expand what you are able to do with it: more “bang for your buck,” so to speak?
