This new whiteness measurement instrument instantly measures the whiteness of a powder sample, helping users determine the purity and/or consistency of a sample.
ANAHEIM, California – Apr. 22, 2013 – Kett, the world’s leading manufacturer of award-winning portable handheld moisture analyzers and coating thickness analysis instrumentation, announced today the introduction of the C130, a new instrument that provides instant whiteness testing of powder samples.
The C130 is the latest in instrument innovation from Kett, a leader in rice, grain and seed quality measurement instrumentation for more than 65 years. The C130 is designed for use in laboratory, near-line process and remote QA/QC applications where quick, accurate determination of whiteness and/or purity is required.
This simple-to-use device allows users to quickly measure the whiteness of any powder sample and tests are able to be completed without sample preparation. The C130 can be calibrated for measuring substances such as rice flour, wheat flour, starch, calcium carbonate, salt, pharmaceutical powder and cement. The C130 includes one factory calibration. In addition, nine customer calibrations can be created for specialized applications, or to allow the C130 to be adjusted to unique application requirements.
To measure a sample, the user selects the calibration, fills the small sample holder with powder, places the sample onto a tray and slides the tray into the C130. The instrument automatically detects the sample and provides a measurement in less than two seconds. Results are displayed on the large LCD screen. If desired, samples can be automatically averaged.
The C130 includes a digital output for connection to an optional thermal printer or PC. This option provides for full measurement documentation.
The C130 builds on the success of the C100, recognized as a worldwide standard for whiteness and purity measurement. The new C130 offers reduced sample requirements (reduced 59 percent), a much smaller footprint (reduced 48 percent) and lower heat generation and energy usage (through the use of LED light sources). The LEDs allow the customer to minimize the cost of operation because of their long life (estimated in excess of 20,000 hours (MTBF) and reduced energy consumption.
